• The prayer times in this timetable has been prepared for Colombo (6.56N 79.51E). Although this timetable is centered on Colombo city, it is adoptable in the cities and townships such as Panadura, Kalutara, Beruwela, Aluthgama, Galle, Weligama, Matara, Hambantota, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Kandy, Matale and Badulla according to the longitude and latitude, where there is a slim time difference. However, in the areas in the Eastern province such as Trincomalee, Kalkuda, Batticaloa, Kalmunai, Akkaraipattu, Pottuvil, prayer times fall 6 to 9 minutes ahead of the prayer times for Colombo. • Prayer times, other than the Luhar Prayer, for the areas in the West or North of Colombo such as Kalpitiya, Puttalam and Mannar fall 5 minutes later than the times for Colombo city. • The time for Luhar Prayer in the areas of Kalpitiya, Mannar and Jaffna always conforms to the time for same prayer time in Colombo city. • Being prepared by late M. I. Abdus Samad Aalim, the former President of All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulema, this timetable came into effect from 1994 with the approval of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulema and the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs. • This prayer timetable was revised to comply with the time changes (GMT + 5:30) which came into effect from 15th April 2006. • The prayer times available in this website (www.slmuslims.com) is based prayer on the prayer times for Colombo city.
