  • Points to assist a declining marriage
Points to assist a declining marriage   The Hadith questions the manhood of a person who beats his wife up during the day and derives pleasure from her during the night. Good marriages require patience, kindness, humility, sacrifice, empathy, love, understanding, forgiveness, and hard work. Following these basic principles should help any marriage to improve. The essence of them all can be summed up in one sentence: Always treat your spouse the way you would like to be treated.   Amidst busy schedules and tasks on the parts of both women and men, Muslim husbands and wives tend to forget the real reasons behind marriage and likewise the rights of each other. Subsequently, they deprive themselves, their mates and their children of the happiness and tranquility that is the bedrock of a successful family. This unbalanced vision towards...

  • 6 Practical Steps Toward Sincere Repentance
Most people are aware of the conditions people must fulfill before their repentance is accepted, namely giving up the sin, regretting the sin, and determining never to commit it again.   However, in this article we will highlight some practical steps people should follow in order to help achieve sincere repentance.   1: Trying to count all the sins that you have committed since adulthood until the present time.   This is an introduction to repenting for all these sins, because when the soul considers all its sins, it will be humble and tend to repent as soon as possible. Here is a list of the categories of sins to help you remember your past sins:   - Sins of the body, such as the tongue (backbiting, tale-bearing, lying, and ridiculing others); the eyes (looking at what is prohibited), ears, hands, feet and private parts.   -...

  • 13 points on Shukr (Thankfulness) to Allah Ta’ala
    1. We can never count Allaah’s Blessings: Be ever grateful to Allaah Ta’ala for everything that you possess including your wealth, health, status, intellectual abilities and life. Allaah says: “Is, then, He Who creates comparable to any that cannot create? Will you not, then, take heed? For should you try to count Allaah’s blessings, you could never compute them…” (An-Nahl 16:17-19). 2. Shaytan’s primary mission is to make human beings ungrateful: From the very beginning of the human being’s creation, the issue of gratefulness and thankfulness to Allaah Ta’ala has been debated. After refusing to bow to Adam, Satan said: “Then I will certainly come to them from before them and from behind them, and from the right-hand side and from the left-hand side, and You (Allaah) shall not find most of them thankful” (Al-Araf...

Media Statement 26/ 02/ 2013 by ACJU

Press Releases

User Rating: / 1
PoorBest

Further to the statement released to the general public by the ACJU on 2Lst of February 20L3 wherein an appeal was made to the manufacturers who had already obtained a Halaal Certificate, to confine the Halaal certified products to the Muslim community only, has decided to share the following decision of the ACJU also with general public.

While reiterating the original stand, that the ACJU introduced the mechanism of Halaal Certification only with the intention of facilitating the availability of Halal foods to Muslim , on a service oriented basis without any commercial motive the ACJU wishers to place in the public domain the entire turnover generated out of the certification process of the year ended 31st March 2Ot2 was Rs. Seventeen Million nine hundred and two thousand, eight hundred and seven and cents fifty (Rs.17,902,807.50) based on certifying 150 lnstitutions registered at that time and other related services leaving a profit of Rs. Two million six hundred sixty nine thousand, four hundred and twenty and cents eighty only (Rs.2,669,420.80), which has been periodically re, invested to upgrade the process to international standards.

Therefore the ACJU categorically rejects and denies the baseless allegations of raising funds for dubious purposes.

It is due to the extremely economical and transparent nature of the certification process that several commercial organizations had voluntarily opted to apply for the certificate for their commercial benefit understandably to increase their market share".

However despite the clarifications given by ACJU, and its continuous offer to audit its process, several misconceptions and doubts have been created in the minds of the general public about the process.

The ACJU regrets the manner in which the Halaal certification process has been used to create divisions and disturbances among the different communities particularly among Muslims and Sinhalese. The ACJU states that if the legitimate concerns regarding the process could have been placed before the ACJU, a solution acceptable to all communities could have been reached without disturbing the peace and co-existence among the people of our country.

As an organization, which has been in existence for more than 87 years, committed for the peaceful coexistence among the communities the ACJU reiterates its commitment to maintaining peace, harmony and peaceful coexistence of different races.

ln view of the aforesaid and to avoid continuous debate on this sensitive issue which could threaten the peaceful coexistence of the people, the ACJU, as an alternative to the present mechanism, suggest, that the Government of Sri Lanka takes over the Halaal certification process and provides a mechanism acceptable to all stake holders.

The ACJU is of the view that the Government of Sri Lanka could model the process in line with the process presently adapted by governments of Thailand and Singapore.

This suggestion will reiterate the ACJU stand, that the process was introduced not as commercial venture to generate profit but as service oriented process to meet the concerns of the Muslim community.
