Court wants JMO’s full report on Wasim Thajudeen

The Colombo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday (28) ordered to produce a detailed report with respect to the post-mortem examination carried out on former national rugby player Wasim Thajudeen.


The order was issued after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed the Magistrate that the Colombo former Chief Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) has not submitted the final autopsy report yet.


The mysterious death of former Wasim Thajudeen was not an accidental one, the CID apprised the Magistrate earlier.


An inquest into the death of Thajudeen was launched following the emergence of new information in connection with the case, recently.

Thajudeen represented S Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia from 2001 to 2003. He then turned out for Havelock’s SC during the 2005 season where he played in the position of wing three quarter. He was voted the Most Popular Ruggerite of the Year at the Caltex Observer Touchdown Rugby Quiz award ceremony in 2009 as well.

Rajapaksa 'ready for struggle' in Sri Lanka comeback bid

COLOMBO (Reuters) - Sri Lanka's former leader Mahinda Rajapaksa vowed on Tuesday to reclaim power in a general election, eight months after he was ousted as president, saying he was "ready for struggle" against an international war crimes investigation.

Defeated by erstwhile ally Maithripala Sirisena in January, Rajapaksa wants to turn the tables at the Aug. 17 parliamentary polls, setting his sights on the post of prime minister that has been beefed up under constitutional reforms.

Launching his manifesto, the 69-year-old sought to mobilize public opinion against a U.N. investigation into suspected atrocities committed against minority Tamils towards the end of Sri Lanka's 26-year civil war.

"We think fresh. We are ready for a struggle and war on behalf of the country," Rajapaksa said as he announced policies designed to appeal to poorer voters in the island nation of 21 million off southeast India.

The U.N. report on human rights in the final stages of the war in 2009, when Rajapaksa's military crushed resistance in the Tamil-speaking north, is due to be released after the election.

The United Nations estimated in 2011 that up to 40,000 civilians died in the final army assault.

Appealing to his core base of Buddhist Sinhalese speakers, who make up more than seven in 10 voters, Rajapaksa said: "Are you going to vote to divide this country and take us to court in Geneva?"

Rajapaksa is also under investigation for suspected misuse and misappropriation of public funds, while his brothers are fighting corruption charges. He denies wrongdoing.

His opponents accuse him of overpaying for investments backed by China. The biggest is the $1.4 billion Colombo Port City project, a symbol of China's influence and a waystation on its most important trade route.

Rajapaksa conceded the leadership of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party after his election defeat, but Sirisena's failure to take control of the party left the door open for him to regroup and contest the election.

There has been no opinion poll on the election, but political analysts say Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe's United National Party-led coalition, which backed Sirisena in January, has an edge over Rajapaksa's party.

Rajapaksa's dwelt on his past achievements as leader and gave few clues as to what he would do if elected, beyond promising cheap goods for the poor.

"I am not sure that is going to win new votes for him," said Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu, executive director at the Centre for Policy Alternatives. "They aren't offering anything new. They keep talking about the past."

Sri Lanka opposition says no autonomy for Tamils

Sri Lanka's main opposition party Tuesday scrapped a longstanding promise to give greater autonomy to minority Tamils, as it tries to win over hardline sections of the Sinhalese majority before a general election.

In its manifesto launched in Colombo, former strongman Mahinda Rajapakse's United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) said it would refuse to grant more powers to a local council in the Tamils' northern heartland if it won the August 17 election.

Before he was toppled in presidential polls in January, Rajapakse had promised to build on a law passed in 1987 giving some autonomy to ethnic Tamils.

The law was brokered by neighbouring India to try to end a decades-long conflict between Sri Lanka's military and Tamil rebels fighting for a separate homeland.

Rajapakse, an ethnic Sinhalese, remains popular among big sections of the island's largest community for overseeing the defeat of the rebels in 2009.

Rajapakse said he was contesting a seat in the upcoming parliamentary poll to ensure Tamil-dominated areas did not slip back into conflict.

"Criminal activity has increased in the north... it is becoming a dangerous situation. If things were all right, there would be no need for me to come back and contest elections," he said at the launch.

The manifesto did not say why the party was withdrawing the autonomy promise, but political observers said it was aimed at winning over hardline Sinhalese who oppose power-sharing with Tamils.

Rajapakse's defeat in January was blamed on allegations of corruption and nepotism during his decade-long rule, as well as a failure to achieve post-war reconciliation.

President Maithripala Sirisena, who defeated his one-time mentor, has pledged to bring about reconciliation with Tamils.

The UPFA manifesto also pledged to double the minimum wage and give tax-free cars to wide sections of society and extend generous subsidies to farmers.

The Dangerous Rise of Buddhist Chauvinism

TOKYO – The Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, composed no sutta to religious hatred or racial animus. And yet Buddhist chauvinism now threatens the democratic process in both Myanmar (Burma) and Sri Lanka. Some of the same Buddhist monks who braved Myanmar’s military junta in the “Saffron Revolution” of 2007 today incite violence against members of the country’s Muslim Rohingya minority. In Sri Lanka, the ethnic chauvinism of the Buddhist Sinhalese, stirred by a former president determined to reclaim power, mocks the supposed goal of reconciliation with the vanquished Hindu Tamils.

In Myanmar, Buddhist racism is at the root of a virtual civil war in the state of Rakhine and is fueling a humanitarian crisis in which hundreds of thousands of Muslim Rohingya have fled their country by land and sea. Most ominous for Myanmar’s future, given that all genocides are linked to official action, this racial and religious antagonism is in no way spontaneous. The Rohingya have already been stripped of their Myanmar citizenship, and a raft of new and proposed legislation that would further marginalize Islam seems certain to provoke further violence.

A new marriage law, for example, requires interfaith couples to register their intent to marry with local authorities, who will display a public notice of the engagement; only if no citizen objects to the union – highly unlikely in the present tense climate – is the couple permitted to wed. Another bill in the pipeline would forbid anyone under the age of 18 from converting to another religion, and would require even an adult seeking to convert to gain the permission – subject to repeated interrogation – of local officials.

Perhaps most disturbing, a third recent bill would allow for the imposition of Chinese-style population control on any group with a growth rate that is higher than the national average. Women could be ordered to wait, say, three years after the birth of a child before having another. Here, too, local governments, which are the most susceptible to popular prejudices, will be empowered to implement a law that seems specifically targeted at the Rohingyas, with their large families.

These laws do not yet amount to an updated version of the Nuremberg laws (the anti-Jewish legislation enacted by the Nazis in 1935). But they do reflect the agenda of those seeking to fan Buddhist resentment in order to thwart Myanmar’s democratic transition. That dark ambition has gained urgency, because the country is due to hold its first democratic presidential election since the transition began in 2011.

The Rohingyas are, of course, the main target of this strategy. But there is another target as well: Aung San Suu Kyi, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate and opposition leader.

For now, Suu Kyi is precluded from running for President by a cynical constitutional provision that excludes anyone whose spouse or child has a foreign passport (Suu Kyi’s two sons by her late English husband hold British passports). Nonetheless, the regime, still fearing her popularity, is playing the race and religion card in order to discredit her and her party, the National League for Democracy, which won all but one of the parliamentary seats contested in the recent general election (and swept the annulled 1990 election).

By stoking Buddhist violence against the Rohingya, the regime aims to damage Suu Kyi and the NLD’s chances of victory in two ways. If she speaks out for the Rohingya, her appeal among Buddhists, the vast majority of Myanmar’s citizens, may be dented enough to preserve the army’s grip on power. If she does not defend the Rohingya, her aura of moral leadership may be dimmed among her own supporters, both at home and abroad.

So far, Suu Kyi has circumvented this booby trap with the verbal evasiveness that one would expect of an ordinary politician, rather than someone of her courage and standing. But, as the violence grows and the election nears, her room for maneuver will undoubtedly narrow. Instead of highlighting the country’s real needs – serious land reform, an anti-corruption drive, and freeing the economy from oligarchic control – she may instead be drawn into defending an unpopular minority.

A similar political imperative is at the heart of the Sinhalese chauvinism that has made a sudden return to public life in Sri Lanka. The religious and ethnic passions of the Sinhalese were encouraged during the final, bloody push that ended Sri Lanka’s quarter-century of civil war with the Tamil Tigers in 2009. But instead of seeking reconciliation with the Tamils following their defeat, then-President Mahinda Rajapaksa continued to play on ethnic hatred as he subverted Sri Lanka’s democracy.

Rajapaksa’s unexpected defeat by a coalition of Sri Lanka’s democrats and Tamil political parties in last January’s presidential election – a result that he then sought to annul – should have ended both his career and the politics of race-baiting. But the former president is now mounting a furious comeback bid and might well win the parliamentary election scheduled for August 17.

One reason for Rajapaksa’s potential victory is his deep pockets; another is that he can probably count on support from China, having allowed the construction of ports and other facilities for the People’s Liberation Army during his presidency. But the key to his fortunes has been his effort to stoke the fears of the majority Sinhalese.

Rajapaksa is thus placing Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in the same difficult position faced in Myanmar by Suu Kyi. So far, Wickremesinghe has succeeded in suggesting that the Sinhalese have more to fear from the return of Rajapaksa than they do from the country’s ethnic minorities. But no one should ever underestimate the power of hatred to undermine a democracy from within.

இஸ்¬லாம் என்ற மார்க்கத்தோடு வாழ்¬பவர் அத்துமீறல்களோடும் வன்¬மு¬றை-களோடும் சம்பந்தப்படமாட்டார். இஸ்லாம் என்றால் ‘சாந்தி, ‘சமா¬தானம்’ (ஸில்ம்) என்¬ற பொருளைத் தருகிறது. என¬வேதான் அல்லாஹ் “நீங்கள் ‘ஸில்¬ம்’ க்குள் முழு¬மை¬யாக நுழைந்து விடுங்கள்” (2:208) என்¬கிறான். முஸ்லிம் என்¬பவன் அன்பு, இரக்கம், சாந்தி, சமா¬தானம், மென்மை, தர்மம் என்¬ப¬வற்றை உலக மாந்தர்களுக்கு அக்¬க¬றை¬யோடு சுமந்து வரும் ஒரு தூதுவன் தான்.

எனவே, பிறரை அவன் சந்¬திக்¬கின்ற பொழு¬து¬கூட “உங்கள் மீது சாந்தி உண்¬டா-கட்டும்” (அஸ்¬ஸ¬லாமு அலைக்கும்) என்ற வாழ்த்தைக் கூறுவான். இஸ்¬லா¬மிய பிரச்¬சாரம் கூட ‘ஹிக்மா’ (ஞானம்-16:125) ‘பஸீரா’ (அறி¬வுத்¬தெ¬ளிவு-12:108) ‘ஜிதால் பில் அஹ்ஸன்’ (மிக¬வுமே அழ¬கிய விதத்¬தி¬லான கருத்துப் பரி¬மாறல்-16:125) ‘கவ்லுன் லய்யின்’ (மிரு¬து¬வான பேச்சு-20:44) என்¬ப¬வற்றின் மூலமே இடம்¬பெற வேண்¬டு¬மென்று அல்¬குர்¬ஆ¬னிலே அல்லாஹ் சொல்¬கிறான்.

ஆனால்,உலகில் சட்¬டத்¬தையும் ஒழுங்¬கையும் சமூக நீதி¬யையும் கட்¬டிக்¬காப்¬ப-தற்கு, கொலைத் தண்¬ட¬னையை இஸ்லாம் அமு¬லாக்¬கி¬னாலும் அதற்கு  இறுக்¬க-மான கட்¬டுப்¬பா¬டு¬க¬ளையும் நிபந்¬த¬னை¬க¬ளையும் போட்¬டி¬ருக்¬கி¬றது. கொலைக் குற்-றத்தில் சம்¬பந்¬தப்¬பட்¬டவன்  தண்¬ட¬னை¬யி¬லி¬ருந்து  விலக்¬க¬ளிக்¬கப்¬ப¬டு¬வ¬தற்கும் மன்-னிக்¬கப்¬ப¬டு¬வ¬தற்கும் ஏரா¬ள¬மான வாய்ப்¬பு¬க¬ளையும் தூண்¬டு¬தல்¬க¬ளையும்  அது வழங்¬கு¬கின்¬றது. அது மட்¬டு¬மன்றி, குற்¬றத்தை நிறு¬வு¬வ¬தற்கு பல¬மான ஆதா¬ரங்¬க-ளையும் சாட்¬சி¬யங்¬க¬ளையும் உறு¬தி¬யாக வேண்¬டு¬கி¬றது. “அவர்¬களை நீர் மன்¬னித்¬து, தாராளத் தன்¬மை¬யோடு நடந்து கொள்¬வீ¬ராக” (5:13) என அல்லாஹ் கூறுகிறான்.பழிக்கு பழி வாங்¬கு¬வ¬தற்கான உரிமையை பாதிக்கப்பட்டவருக்கோ அல்லது அவரது உறவினர்களுக்கோ அவன் வழங்¬குகிறான்.ஆனால், அதேவேளை மன்¬னிகும்படியும்  ஊக்¬கு¬விகிறான்.பழிக்குப்பழி வாங்கும் போது அத்¬து¬மீ¬றப்¬பட்ட அள¬வுக்கே அத்துமீறியவரைத் தண்¬டிக்கலாம் என்றும்¬ அளவு மீறி தண்¬டிப்¬பது கடும் தண்¬ட¬னையை பெற்¬றுத்¬த¬ரு¬மென்றும் அவன் கூறு¬கின்றான். இது பற்றி சூரா பக-ராவின் 178 ஆம் வசனம் மிகத் தெளி¬வாக விப¬ரிக்¬கி¬றது.

இஸ்¬லா¬மிய  பிரச்¬சா¬ரத்துக்கு முட்டுக்கட்டை போட்டு அதற்கு அச்சுறுத்தலாக அமைவது, முஸ்லிம்  சமூ¬கத்தை ஒழித்துக் கட்¬டு¬வ¬தற்காக முழுமூச்சாக செயல்படுவது, பல¬வீ¬னர்கள்  மீது  அரா¬ஜ¬கத்தை கட்¬ட¬விழ்த்து  விடு¬வது போன்றவற்றில் ஈடுபடுபவர்களை தடுத்து நிறுத்த இஸ்லாம்  ஆயுதப்  போராட்-டத்தை  ஒரு வழி¬மு¬றை¬யாக அங்¬கீ¬க¬ரிக்¬கி¬றது. மட்¬டு¬மன்றி ,அதனை  கட்¬டா¬யப்¬ப-டுத்¬து¬கி¬றது. ஆனால், இதற்கும் இறுக்¬க¬மான கட்¬டுப்¬பா¬டு¬களையே போட்¬டி¬ருக்¬கி¬றது.

ஒருவர்  மற்¬றொ¬ரு¬வரை  எவ்¬வித  நியா¬யமும் இன்றி  கொலை செய்¬வ¬தா¬னது முழு மனித சமு¬தா¬யத்¬தையும் கொலை செய்¬வ¬தற்கு சம¬னாகும் என்றும் அதேவேளை எவ¬ரா¬வது ஒரு¬வரை இறப்¬பி¬லி¬ருந்து பாது¬காப்¬பது முழு மனித சமு¬தா-யத்¬தையும் இறப்¬பி¬லி¬ருந்து பாது¬காப்¬ப¬தற்கு சமன் என்ற கருத்தை குர்¬ஆனில் (5:32) அல்லாஹ் தெரி¬விப்¬ப¬தி¬லி¬ருந்து ஒரு மனிதன் - அவன் எந்த மதத்தைச் சேர்ந்¬த¬வ¬னாக இருந்¬தாலும்- அவ¬னது உயிரை பாது¬காப்¬பதன் அவ¬சி¬யத்தை உணர்த்¬து¬கி¬றான். “(இஸ்லாமிய அரசுடன்) உடன்படிக்கை செய்துள்ள (முஸ்லிம் அல்லாத நாட்ட)வரைக் கொலை செய்பவன் மறுமையில் சுவனத்தின் வாடையைக் கூட நுகரமாட்டான்” (ஆதாரம்-புகாரி)என நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் கூறினார்கள்.

மேலும் அவர்கள் “இஸ்லாமிய அரசின் பாதுகாப்பிலுள்ள முஸ்லிம் அல்லாத ஒருவருக்கு  யாராவது அநியாயம் செய்தால் அல்லது அவரது உரிமை ஒன்றை குறைத்து விட்டால் அல்லது அவரது சக்திக்கு மேல் அவரை நிர்பந்தித்தால் அல்லது அவரது விருப்பமின்றி அவரிடமிருந்து ஏதாவது ஒன்றை எடுத்தால்  மறுமையில் நான் அவருக்கெதிராக வாதாடுவேன்” (ஆதாரம்-அபூதாவுத்,பைஹகி) என்றும் கூறினார்கள்.

மனித உயிர்¬களின் மீது அத்¬து¬மீ¬று¬வது எப்¬படிப் போனாலும் மிரு¬கங்¬க¬ளது உயிர்கள் மீதும் உடல்கள் மீதும் அத்துமீறு¬வது கூட ஒரு விசு¬வா¬சியை நரகில் நுழை¬விக்கும் குற்¬ற¬மாகும். ஒருப் பெண்  பூனையொன்றைக்  கட்டி வைத்து உணவு கொடுக்¬கா-மைக்¬காக நரகம் நுழைந்தாள் என்றும், தாகித்¬தி¬ருந்த நாய்க்கு  நீர் ¬பு¬கட்¬டிய  நடத்தை கெட்ட ஒரு பெண் மன்¬னிக்¬கப்¬பட்¬டாள் என்றும் கூறும் நபி¬மொ¬ழிகள் இஸ்-லாத்தின் ஜீவ¬கா¬ரூன்ய கோட்¬பாட்டை உயர்ந்த குரலில் ஒலிக்கச் செய்¬கின்¬றன.

இஸ்¬லாத்தின் மேற்¬படி  மனி¬த¬நேய, சமா¬தான, சௌஜன்ய  கோட்¬பா¬டு¬க¬ளோடு ஒப்¬பி¬டு¬கையில் இஸ்¬லாத்தின் பெயரால் அண்மைக் காலத்தில் சில கும்¬பல்கள் மேற்-கொண்டு வரும் சில நட¬வ¬டிக்¬கைகள் அவர்¬க¬ளுக்கும் இஸ்¬லா¬திற்கும் தொடர்-பில்லை என்¬பதையே காட்¬டு¬கின்¬றன. அவர்கள் இஸ்¬லாத்தின் பெய¬ருக்குக் களங்கம் கற்¬பிப்¬ப¬தோடு இஸ்லாத்தை மிகச் ¬ச¬ரி¬யாகப் பின்¬பற்றும் முஸ்¬லிம்¬க¬ளது வட்¬டத்¬தி-லி¬ருந்து அவர்கள் வெளி¬யே¬றி¬விட்¬ட¬மையை   பிர¬க¬ட¬னப்¬ப¬டுத்¬து¬கி¬றது.

இஸ்¬லா¬மிய யுத்த தர்மம்
ஏலவே நாம் குறிப்¬பிட்¬டது போல் இஸ்லாம் ஆயுதப் போரை பல நியா¬ய¬மான கார-ணங்¬க¬ளுக்¬காக அங்¬கீ¬க¬ரித்¬தாலும் யுத்¬தத்தின் போது முஸ்லிம் போர் வீரர்கள் கடைப்-பி¬டிக்க வேண்¬டிய அழ¬கிய ஒழுங்¬கு¬களை அது வகுத்துத் தந்¬தி¬ருக்¬கி¬றது. எதி¬ரிகள் போரைத் தூண்டும் நட¬வ¬டிக்¬கை¬களில் இறங்¬கி¬யி¬ருப்¬பது ஊர்¬ஜி¬த¬மாக வேண்டும், தனிப்¬பட்ட குரோ¬தங்கள், இன¬வாதம், பிர¬தே¬ச¬வாதம், மொழி¬வாதம் என்¬பன போருக்குப் பின்¬புலமாக அமை¬ய¬லா¬காது, யுத்¬தத்தின் போது பெண்கள் வயோதிபர்கள், சிறு¬வர்கள் , மத¬போ¬த¬கர்கள்,  போராட்ட களத்¬திற்கு வராத, போரை விரும்¬பா¬த¬வர்கள் போன்றோர் கொல்¬லப்¬ப¬டக் கூடாது, பழம் தரும் மரங்கள் வெட்¬டப்-ப¬டலாகாது என்¬பன அவற்றிற் சிலவாகும். இஸ்¬லா¬மிய வர¬லாற்றில் கைதிகள் மிகவும் மரி¬யா¬தை¬யா¬கவே நடாத்¬தப்¬பட்¬டுள்¬ளனர். இவ்வழ¬கிய பண்¬பாட்டை அவ¬தா-னித்த பலர் தாமாக முன்¬வந்து இஸ்¬லாத்தை தழு¬விய சந்¬தர்ப்¬பங்கள் அதி¬க¬மாகும்.

கைதி¬களை  சித்¬திர¬வதை செய்ய வேண்டாம் என நபி (ஸல்) அவர்கள் தெளி¬வா-கவே கூறி¬யி¬ருக்¬கின்¬றார்கள் “போராடுங்கள்.அளவு கடந்து நடந்து கொள்ளாதீர்கள்.துரோகம் செய்யாதீர்கள்.சித்தரவதை செய்யாதீர்கள் .சிறுவர்களைக் கொல்லாதீர்கள்.”(ஸஹிஹ் முஸ்லிம் 3261)என்றார்கள். கைபர் யுத்த சந்தர்ர்ப்பத்தில் யூதர்களின் வேத¬மான தௌராத்தின் பிர¬தி¬யொன்று கண்¬டெ¬டுக்¬கப்¬பட்ட போது அதனை பத்¬தி¬ர¬மாகக் கொண்டு போய் யூதர்¬க¬ளிடம் ஒப்¬ப¬டைக்கும் அவர்கள் தமது தோழர்¬களைப் பணித்¬தார்கள். இதி¬லி¬ருந்து பிற சமு¬தா¬யத்¬தவரது உயிர், உடமை, மதம் ஆகி¬ய¬வற்¬றினை யுத்த சந்¬தர்¬ப்பத்தில் கூட நபிகளார் பாது¬காத்¬தமை புல¬னா¬கி-றது.தற்¬கால சூழலில் சில தீவி¬ர¬வாதக் குழுக்கள் இஸ்¬லாத்தின் பெயர் தாங்¬கிய நிலையில் செய்யும் வன்¬செ¬யல்¬களை இந்த நிலைக்¬க¬ளனில் நின்று தான் நாம் மதிப்¬பீடு செய்ய வேண்டும்.

மேற்குலக ஊடகங்களின் பக்கசார்பு
அதேவேளை, இஸ்லாமிய உலகில் இடம்பெறும் சின்ன்னச் சின்ன குற்றச்செயல்ளையும் பூதக்கண்ணாடி போட்டு பார்ப்பதையும் இல்லாதவற்றை உள்ளதாக சித்தரிப்பதையும் ஊடகக் கொள்ள்கையாகக் கடைப்பிடிக்கும் மேற்குலக சார்பு ஊடகங்கள் இஸ்லாமிய உலக விவகாரங்களை திரிபுபடுத்துவதிலும் தப்பான கருத்துக்களை உருவாக்குவதிலும் வரிந்துகட்டிக் கொண்டு செயல்படுகின்றன. இஸ்லாமிய உலகில் வன்முறைகள் இடம்பெறுவதில்லை என்பது இதன் அர்த்தமல்ல.

ஆனால்,மேற்குலகில் இடம்பெறும் சமுகவிரோத செயல்கள் மூடிமறைக்கப்படுகின்றன. முதலாம் உலக யுத்தத்தின் போது ஒரு கோடி எழுபது லட்சம் பேரும் இரண்டாம் உலக யுத்த்தத்தின் போது ஆறு கோடிப் பேரும் கொல்லப்பட்டார்கள். அங்கவீனமானவர்கள்,ஏற்பட்ட பொருட்சேதங்கள் தனியானவவை.  மேற்குலகு புரிந்த இந்த அட்டூழியங்களை வார்த்தைகளில் வடிக்க முடியாது.குவண்டனாமா, இராக் சிறைகளில் முஸ்லிம் கைதிகள் மீது அமெரிக்க இராணுவம் புரிந்த,புரியும் அடாவடித்தனங்கள் சர்வதேச மனித உரிமை அமைப்புக்களால் கூட வன்மையாகக் கண்டிக்கப்பட்டுவருகின்றன. பலஸ்தீனர்களை இஸ்ரேல் நடாத்தும் விதத்தை மேற்குலக ஊடகங்கள் மிகக் குறைவாகவே கண்டுகொள்கின்றன,அல்லது அவற்றை நியாயம் காணுகின்றன.எனவே,இஸ்லாமிய பெயர் தாங்கிய தீவிரவாதிகள் புரியும் குற்றசெயல்களை கண்டிக்கும் அதே வேகத்தில் இந்த ஊடகங்கள் மேற்குலக பயங்கரவாதத்தையும் கண்டிக்குமாயின் அதனை வரவேற்க முடியும்.மொத்தத்தில் இஸ்லாமிய உலக பயங்கரவாதம் பற்றி பேசுவதற்கு எந்தவித அருகதையும் அவற்றுக்கில்லை.


அரா¬ஜக ஆட்¬சி¬யா¬ளர்கள்
அதே¬வேளை, இஸ்¬லா¬மிய உல¬கி¬ல் நடு¬நிலை தவ¬றிய தீவி¬ர¬வாதக் குழுக்கள் உரு-வா¬கு¬வ¬தற்கு பல நியா¬ய¬மான கார¬ணங்¬களும் இருப்¬பதை எம்மால் மறுக்க முடி¬யாது. மேற்¬கத்¬தய நாடு¬க¬ளது அடி¬வ¬ரு¬டி¬க¬ளாக இருந்த வண்ணம் குடிமக்¬க¬ளது அடிப்¬படை மனித உரி¬மை¬களைக் கூட வழங்¬காமல் அரா¬ஜக ஆட்¬சி¬களைக் கொண்டு நடாத்தும் அரபுலக ஆட்¬சி¬யா¬ளர்கள் இத்¬த¬கைய தீவி¬ர¬வாதக் குழுக்¬க¬ளது உரு¬வாக்¬கத்¬திற்கு பல வகை¬யிலும் கார¬ண¬மாக அமைந்¬தி¬ருக்¬கி¬றார்கள். எனவே, இந்த அடக்¬கு¬முறைகளது எதிர் விளை¬வாக இத்¬த¬கைய குழுக்கள் தோன்¬று¬கின்¬றன. ஒரு பந்தை சுவரில் வேக-மாக வீசி எறியும் போது அது அதே வேகத்தில் எறிபவ¬ரது திசையை நோக்¬கியே திரும்¬பி¬வ¬ரு¬வது பௌதீக நிய¬தி¬யாகும். அதுபோலவே அர¬பு¬லக ‘அரச பயங்¬க¬ர-வாதம்’ பொது மக்¬களில் பல¬ருக்கு வேப்¬பங்¬கா¬யாகக் கசத்து, அது வன்¬மு¬றை¬களின் பால் அவர்¬களிற் சிலரை இட்¬டுச்¬செல்¬கி¬றது. நாம் இவ்¬வாறு கூறும் போது பயங்¬க¬ர-வா¬தத்தை நியா¬யப்¬ப¬டுத்¬து¬வ¬தாக எவரும் கருதி விடக்¬கூ¬டாது. பொறுமையானது கடு¬மை¬யாக சோதிக்¬கப்¬ப¬டும்¬போது அது தீப்¬பி¬ழம்¬பாக வெடித்துச் சித¬றி¬விடும்.
அர¬பு¬லகில் உள்ள ஆட்¬சி¬யா¬ளர்¬களிற்  பலரை மேற்¬கத்¬தய நாடுகள் தமது கைப்-பொம்¬மை¬க¬ளா¬க வைத்து இயக்கிக் கொண்¬டி¬ருக்¬கின்¬றன. அரபுலகில் உள்ள பெற்றோல் உள்¬ளிட்ட இயற்கை வளங்கள் மீது பூரண ஆதிக்கம் செலுத்த வேண்¬டு-மாயின்  எதற்கும் இசைந்து கொடுக்கும் ஆட்¬சி¬யா¬ளர்¬களை அதற்¬காகப் போஷித்து வளர்ப்¬பதும் அவர்¬க¬ளது ஆட்¬சி¬களை தக்¬க¬வைக்க தன்¬னா¬லான சக¬ல¬தையும் செய்-வதும் மேற்கின் நலன்¬களின் தேவை¬யாக மாறி¬யுள்¬ளது.

அரபு நாட்டு ஆட்¬சி¬யா¬ளர்¬களும் தமது இராணுவ மற்றும் பண பலத்தின் உத¬வி¬யுடன்  குடி¬மக்¬க¬ளது இரத்¬தங்¬களை உறிஞ்சிக் குடிக்கும் ஒட்¬டுண்¬ணி¬க¬ளாக இருக்¬கின்¬றனர். அதேவேளை, உல¬கெங்கும் பர¬வ¬லாக ஏற்¬பட்டு வரும் இஸ்¬லா¬மிய எழுச்¬சி¬களால் தமது ஆட்சிக் கதி¬ரைகள் பறி¬போய்¬விடும் என்ற பயத்தால் தத்¬த¬மது நாடு¬களில் இஸ்-லா¬மி¬ய¬வா¬திகள் தலை¬தூக்கும் போதெல்லாம் அவர்¬க¬ளுக்கு மரண அடி¬கொ¬டுத்து சுய¬பா¬து¬காப்¬புக்கு வேலி¬போட்டுக் கொள்¬கி¬றார்கள்.


மேற்¬கு¬லக கப¬டத்¬தனம்
மேற்¬கு¬லக நாடு¬க¬ளுக்கும் இத்¬த¬கைய ஆட்¬சி¬யா¬ளர்¬களே தேவைப்¬ப¬டு¬கி¬றார்கள். எனவே, முஸ்¬லிம்¬க¬ளுக்கு  தத்¬த¬மது நாடு¬களில் இஸ்¬லா¬மிய நட¬வ¬டிக்¬கை¬க¬ளுக்கு அவ¬காசம் இல்¬லாமல் போகின்ற போது, அடிக்¬கடி சிறை¬களில் பலர் தள்¬ளப்¬படும் போது, சர்¬வ¬சா¬தா¬ர¬ண¬மா¬கவே மரண தண்¬ட¬னைகள் அரங்¬கேற்¬றப்¬ப¬டும்¬ போது உள்ளம் வெதும்பும் முஸ்லிம் இளை¬ஞர்கள் ஆயு¬தத்¬தினை கையி¬லெ¬டுத்து போராட –முனைகிறார்கள்.

விசித்¬திரம் என்ன¬வென்றால் தமக்கு வேண்¬டிய ஆட்¬சி¬யா¬ளர்¬க¬ளுக்கு ஆயுதம் விநி-யோ¬கிக்கும் மேற்¬கு¬லகு தான் அந்த ஆட்¬சி¬யா¬ளர்¬களை எதிர்த்துப் போராடும் ஆயுதக் குழுக்¬க¬ளுக்கும் ஆயுத விற்¬பனை செய்¬கின்¬றன. ஒரு காலத்தில் சதாம் ஹுஸைனைப் பலப்¬ப¬டுத்த ஆயுதம் கொடுத்த அமெ¬ரிக்கா தான் ஆப்¬கானில் கம்யூனிஸ சார்பு ஆட்¬சியை வீழ்த்தி ரஷ்¬யாவை துரத்த உயிர்¬களைத் தியாகம் செய்து போரா¬டிய முஜா¬ஹித்¬க¬ளுக்கும் பூர¬ண¬மான ஒத்¬து¬ழைப்பைக் கொடுத்தது. ரஷ்யா துரத்¬தப்¬பட்¬ட¬ பின்னர் முஜா¬ஹித்கள் ஆட்¬சி¬ய¬மைத்த மறு¬க¬ணமே அவர்கள் ஆட்¬சி-யி¬லி¬ருந்து வெளி¬யேற்¬றப்¬படவும்  ஏற்¬பா¬டு¬களைச் செய்¬தது.

அந்¬த¬வ¬கையில் அரபுலக ஆட்¬சி¬யா¬ளர்கள் மட்¬டு¬மன்றி அப்¬பி¬ராந்¬தி¬யங்¬களில் போராடும் பல தீவி¬ர¬வாத குழுக்¬களும் கூட மேற்¬கி¬லி¬ருந்து ஆயுதம் பெறு¬வது விநோதத்திலும் விநோ¬த¬மாகும்.

ஒரு காலத்தில்  இலங்கையின் அரச படை¬க¬ளுக்கு இஸ்ரேல் ஆயுதப் பயிற்சி வழங்¬கிய அதே¬வேளை வடக்கில் போரா¬டிய தமிழ் ஆயுதக் குழுக்¬க¬ளுக்கும் யுத்¬தப்¬ப-யிற்சி வழங்¬கி¬யது என்றால் இந்த நாட¬கத்தின் பின் புலத்தை புரி¬வது கஷ்¬ட¬மல்ல.

சுருங்கக் கூறின் மேற்¬கு¬ல¬குக்குத் தேவைப்¬பட்¬டது மூன்று விட¬யங்கள் மாத்¬திரமே. 1. உலகில் வேகமாக ஏற்பட்டு வரும் நடு¬நி¬லை¬யான இஸ்¬லா¬மிய எழுச்¬சியை முற்று முழு¬தாகத் தடுத்து நிறுத்¬து¬வது.
2. அரபு உலகின் பெற்¬றோ¬லிய வளத்தை பூரண கட்¬டுப்¬பாட்டில் வைத்¬தி¬ருப்¬பது.      3. மேற்¬கு¬லகில் இருக்கும் ஆயுத உற்¬பத்திச் சாலை¬க¬ளுக்கு தொடர்ந்¬தேர்ச்¬சி¬யான ஆயுதச் சந்¬தை¬களை தக்க வைத்துக் கொள்¬வது.

மேற்¬படி மூன்று நோக்¬கங்¬க¬ளையும் அடைந்து கொள்¬வ¬தற்¬காக உலகில் எந்¬தப்¬பா¬த-கத்¬தையும் செய்¬வ¬தற்கு மேற்¬கு¬லகு தயங்¬கப்¬போ¬வ¬தில்லை. இந்த உண்¬மையை அர-பு¬லக ஆட்¬சி¬யா¬ளர்¬களும்  தீவி¬ர¬வாத- பயங்¬க¬ர¬வாத ஆயு¬தக்¬கு¬ழுக்¬களும் புரியும் காலம் முதலில் பிறக்க வேண்டும். அது¬மட்¬டு¬மன்றி தம்மைத் தூண்¬டுவோர் யார்? அவர்¬க¬ளது உள்¬நோக்கம் என்ன? தாம் சார்ந்¬தி¬ருக்கும் இஸ்¬லாத்தின் மிகச் சரி¬யான போத¬னைகள் யாவை? தாம் போராடும் வழி¬மு¬றைகள் சரி¬யா¬ன¬வையா? போன்ற தெளி¬வுகள் அனைவருக்கும் அவ¬சியம் தேவைப்¬ப¬டு¬கின்¬றன.

மித¬வாதம் தேவை
தற்¬கால உலகில் நடு¬நி¬லையில் நின்று இஸ்¬லாத்தைப் பேசும், எழுதும், நடை¬மு-றைப்¬ப¬டுத்தும் மித¬வாத இஸ்¬லா¬மிய அறி¬ஞர்கள் இத்¬த¬கைய அரபு நாட்டு ஆட்சியாளர்கள் பற்¬றியும் அவர்கள் விடும் பிழை¬களை எதிர்ப்¬ப¬தற்கும் அவற்றைக் களை¬வ¬தற்கும் சிபார்சு செய்யும் விதந்¬து¬ரைகள் பற்¬றியும் எமக்கு அதி¬க¬மான தெளிவு தேவைப்¬ப¬டு¬கி¬றது. ‘கடும் முறுக்கு தெறிக்கும்’ என்¬பது போல் தீவி¬ர¬வாதம் ஒரு போதும் நீடித்து நிலைத்த நற்¬ப¬லன்¬களைத் தரப்¬போ¬வ¬தில்லை. ஆயு¬தத்தால் ஆட்¬களை மடக்கி பெறப்¬படும் வெற்¬றி¬க¬ளுக்கு ஆயுள் குறைவு. மனதில் புகுந்து, ஆத்மா¬வைத்¬ தொட்டு, அறி¬வு¬பூர்¬வ¬மாகச் செய்¬யப்¬படும் பிர¬சார உத்¬திகள் மாத்திரமே நீடித்து நிலைக்கும். நாய் எம்மைக் கடிக்¬கி¬றது என்¬ப¬தற்¬காக நாமும் நாயைக் கடிக்க முடி¬யாது. ‘முள்ளை முள்ளால் தான் எடுக்க வேண்டும்’ என்ற முது¬மொழி எல்லா இடங்¬க¬ளுக்கும் பொருந்¬தாது. அடிப்¬ப¬டையில் இஸ்லாம் ஆயுதப் போரில் தங்கியிருக்கவில்லை. ‘இதற்கு மேல் சகிப்பதில் அர்த்தமில்லை’ என்ற கட்டத்தை அடையும் பட்சத்தில் மட்டுமே அது மிகுந்த கட்டுப்பாடுகளோடு ஆயுதத்தை பிரயோகிக்க அனுமதிக்கிறது.

இஸ்லாமிய குற்றவியல் தண்டனைகள் கூட பல கட்டங்களைக் கடந்த பின்னரே அமுலாக்கப்படுகின்றன. அவற்றிற் சில வருமாறு:-
1. மனப்பக்குவம் உருவாக்கப்பட்டிருப்பது
2. குற்றங்கள் நிகழாமல் இருப்பதற்கான சூழல் இருப்பது
3. தீமைகளுக்கான வாயில்கள் உயர்ந்தபட்சம் மூடப்பட்டிருப்பது
4.இஸ்லாத்தினை கொள்கையாக ஏற்று அமுல் நடாத்தும் இஸ்லாமிய அரச   இயந்திரம் இருப்பது
5.முன்மாதிரியான கலீபா இருப்பது

Joint declaration by the Muslim Organizations of Sri Lanka on the issue of IS (ISIS) and Extremism

We, the representatives of the main Muslim Organizations in Sri Lanka, present at the anti-extremism conference organized by the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU), held on the 22ndJuly 2015, condemn in unequivocal terms all forms of violence and extremism.

Islam is a religion of Mercy for all humanity. It is the fountainhead of Eternal Peace, Tranquility, Security and Brotherhood. Islam attaches such value to human life that it equates the killing of a single being unlawfully with the killing of the entire human race, without differentiation based on creed or caste. Its teachings of peace and brotherhood encompass all humanity. Islam teaches us to treat all mankind with equality, mercy, tolerance and justice. Islam sternly condemns all kinds of oppression, violence and extremism. It regards oppression, mischief, rioting and murders amongst the severest sins and crimes.

The IS (ISIS) is a violent extremist organization which acts against the fundamental teachings of Islam. It is an absolutely deviant organization which operates against all the principles and tenets of Islam.  Unfortunately, the word ‘Jihad’ has been misinterpreted by the Western media to mean killing or waging unjust wars. Any organization that kills innocent people under the guise of Jihad, it is totally outside the pale of Islam. We endorse the booklet published by the ACJU which explains the correct spiritual concept of Jihad based on authentic Islamic religious texts.

We appreciate the initiatives taken by the ACJU to expose the ISIS as an un-Islamic and extremist organization, in an informative broadcast through the SLBC on the 6thof July 2014 and the statement issued to the media on the 30thof August 2014. Subsequently several International Islamic Institutions and countries have condemned the ISIS as an extremist organization engaged in acts contrary to Islamic teachings.

We strongly and unequivocally condemn any person associated with the ISIS or any other extremist organization operating under the guise of Islam.We do not condone any person or organization that engages in extremism in any form.

We strongly call upon the government to take action against any individual involved in any form of extremism.  We also wholeheartedly offer our fullest support and co-operation to all government agencies to identify such anti-social and criminal elements in order to eliminate this menace from our Motherland.

We call upon the media to act with responsibility and objectivity. We also urge them not to sensationalize such issues as not to endanger peaceful co-existence prevailing amongst the communities in Sri Lanka.

We Muslims have, over the centuries,demonstrated our patriotism and loyalty to Sri Lanka.  We affirm that we will not act in any manner that it detrimental to our Motherland.

As humans we are prone to stress although we all wish to be immune from it. While stress may be beneficial at times however the excess of it will certainly affect our health and productivity. In controlling stress our mind set is so important.

There was once a very old Sheikh who noticed his student very depressed. The wise scholar instructed the unhappy young man to put a handful of salt in a glass of water and then to drink it. "How does it taste?" the Sheikh asked. "Awful," retorted the student.

The Sheikh chuckled and then asked the young man to take another handful of salt and put it in the lake. The two walked in silence to the nearby lake and when the student swirled his handful of salt into the lake, the wise old man said, "Now drink from the lake."

As the water dripped down the young man's chin, the Sheikh asked, "How does it taste?" "Good!" remarked the student. "Do you taste the salt?" asked the Sheikh. "No," said the young man.

The Sheikh sat beside this troubled young man, took his hands, and said, "The pain of life is pure salt; no more, no less. The amount of pain in life remains the same, exactly the same. But the amount we taste the 'pain' depends on the container we put it into. So when you are in pain, the only thing you can do is to take it out of your cup and place it in Allah’s Lake!

No doubt what practical measures or action that are needed in the situation must be taken, but we should then leave it to Allah Ta’ala who is ultimately in control of everything!

Always be positive and forget about the bad things or events of the past and think of good things, always having hope that it can be better. Trying to change the past is a foolish and crazy waste of time, "for saying'if only...' opens the way to Shaytan (Satan)" said the Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam).

The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) also said, " Know that victory (achievement) comes through patience, and that ease comes through hardship."

None can destroy iron, but its own rust. Likewise, none can destroy a person, but his or her own mind-set !

Ups and downs in life are very important to keep us going, a straight line even in an E.C.G. means we are not alive! The same Boiling Water that hardens the egg, Will Soften the Potato!

It all depends upon our reaction to stressful circumstances!

Allah, The Most Wise, say;

“…and in Allah (alone) should the believers trust.” (Qur’aan 14:11)

So the next time you face a problem don’t dissolve it in your small cup of water but cast it into Allah’s Lake!

All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama`s Statement regarding IS (Islamic State)

Nowadays in the media we more often notice about the activities of IS dominating the headlines. This group previously known as ISIS, proclaims to have established an Islamic rule over some parts of Iraq and Syria which have been captured by them.

The vast majority of Islamic Scholars and Islamic Movements of the world have condemned such a proclamation stating that, it violates the values of Islam. We hear through the media that, the amount of extremism and outright brutal assassinations committed by the group, are increasing day by day. If such stories are deemed to be true, an average Muslim could simply realize that such atrocities do not represent Islam.

Their sincerity and ideology appears to be vague till this day. The news about them appears to be heard constantly only via mainstream media, while neither a direct perception of them, nor any information via their official media outlets are heard of. Apparently, when one views this group, it raises many concerns that whether any hands of Anti-Islamic elements are behind this, in order to ridicule Islam and Muslims.

It is worth to note that during the early days when news about this group was beginning to surface the media, on 06th of July 2014 (during the initial period of the last Ramadan), the President of ACJU, Ash sheikh. M.I.M. Rizwe Mufti had made a statement via the Muslim Service of Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, criticizing their stances. Local scholars have condemned them in many of their sermons, similarly it was decided to release a statement about IS, during the Executive Board meeting of the ACJU that took place on 23rd of August 2014. Also it is significant to remind that the Islamic Scholars and Islamic Bodies of the world are constantly expressing cautions about this group.

Presuming the fore mentioned stories about the group are true, the ACJU vehemently condemns the group that claims itself as IS, and all its activities which misrepresents Islam.

ACJU requests all groups that function in the name of Islam to bear in mind that Islam stimulates esteemed qualities such as kindness, compassion, humanity, and respect and protection of fellow human beings.

Further, ACJU requests the Muslims of Sri Lanka to be cautious about IS, and to refrain from spreading messages about them.

මෑත කාලයක පටන් IS නම් වන සංවිධානයක් පිළිබඳ මාධ්‍යවල නිතරම සඳහන් වීම දැකිය හැකිය.

ආරම්භයෙහි ISIS යනුවෙන් හඳූන්වන ලද මෙම සංවිධානය ඉරාකයේ සහ සිරියාවෙහි ඇතැම් ප්‍රදේශ තම අණසකට ගෙන ඉස්ලාමීය පාලනය ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කර ඇත්තේ යැයි පවසමින් සිටියි. එසේ වුවද,මෙම ප්‍රකාශය ඉස්ලාමීය නීති රීතිවලට පටහැනිය යැයිද එහෙයින් එය පිළිගත නොහැක යැයිද ලොව පුරා සිටින මුස්ලිම් ධර්මාචාර්යවරුන් හා පිළිගත් ඉස්ලාමීය සංවිධාන සිය ස්ථාවරය ප්‍රකාශ කර ඇත.

උක්ත සංවිධානයේ කුරිරු කි්‍රයාකලාපය නිසා ඔවුන් කරන ඝාතන දිනෙන් දින වැඩි වෙමින් පවතින්නේ යැයි මාධ්‍ය පවසයි. එසේ වුවද, මෙම සංවිධානයේ ක්‍රියාකාරකම් ගැන නියම තොරතුරු ලබා ගැනීම අසීරු කරුණක් ලෙස පවතියි. මාධ්‍ය පවසන කරුණු හැරෙන්නට IS සංවිධානයේ විසින්ම ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කරන ලද කිසිදූ නිල ප්‍රකාශයක් මෙතෙක් කිසිවෙකුට ලැබී නැත. එමෙන්ම මෙම සංවිධානයේ සාමාජිකයන් හමු වී කරුණු දැන ගැනීමට හැකියාවක් ඇති බවක්ද නොපෙනේ. මෙම සංවිධානය ඇත්තෙන්ම ක්‍රියා කරන්නේ අපට මාධ්‍ය මගින් ආරංචි වන ආකාරයට නම්, එය ඉස්ලාමීය මඟපෙන්වීම්වලට සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම විරුද්ධය. මෙම කාරණාව සාමාන්‍ය මුස්ලිම්වරයෙකුට පවා තේරුම් ගත හැකිය. මේ අතර එක් කෝණයකින් බලන කල IS යනු ඉස්ලාම් ධර්මයට සහ මුස්ලිම්වරුන්ට නින්දා ගෙන දෙන අරමුණින් ක්‍රියා කරන ඉස්ලාමයේ සතුරන්ගේ කල්ලියක්ද යන සාධාරණ සැකයක්ද පවතියි.

මෙම සංවිධානය පිළිබඳ මාධ්‍යවලින් පුවත් නිකුත් වන්නට ආරම්භ වූ අවයෙහි මාධ්‍යවලින් පවසන ලද තොරතුරුවලට අනුව ඔවුන් පිළිබඳ ජමිඉය්යතුල් උලමා සංගමයේ ස්ථාවරය එහි සභාපති අෂ් ෂේක් එම්. අයි එම්. රිස්වි මුෆ්ති 2014 ජූලි 6 වැනි දින ශ්‍රී ලංකා ගුවන් විදූලි සංස්ථාවේ මුස්ලිම් සේවය ඔස්සේ ප්‍රකාශයක් සිදූ කළේය. එයින් අනතුරුව ජගත් මුස්ලිම් විද්වතුන්ද IS සංවිධානය පිළිබඳ අනතුරු අඟවන්නට වූ පසුබිමෙක 2014 අගෝස්තු 23 වැනි දින පවත්වන ලද සංගමයේ කාරක සභා සමු¿වෙහි මෙම අභිරහස් සංවිධානය පිළිබඳ තවත් ප්‍රකාශයක් සිදූ කළ යුතුය යැයි තීරණය විය.

ඉස්ලාම් ධර්මය යනු දයාව, කරුණාව, සමාව, දීම වැනි යහගුණාංග දෙසන උතුම් ධර්මයකි. කරුණු එසේ හෙයින් එතෙක් මෙතෙක් මාධ්‍ය හරහා සිදූ කරනු ලබන හෙළිදැක්වීම් සත්‍ය හා නිවැරදි නම් ඒ අනුව IS සංවිධානයේ ක්‍රියාකාරකම් ඉස්ලාම් ධර්මයේ නීති රීතිවලට ප්‍රතිවිරුද්ධ හෙයින්, ජම්ඉය්යතුල් උලමා සංගමය එම සංවිධානය සහ එහි ක්‍රියාකාරකම් දැඩි ලෙසින් හෙළා දකියි. එමෙන්ම ඉස්ලාමයේ නාමයෙන් කටයුතු කරන සියලූම සංවිධාන සිය ක්‍රියාකාරකම් සිදූ කළ යුත්තේ ඉස්ලාමය දෙසන විශිෂ්ඨ මානුෂීය ගුණාංග මත පිහිටමින් හා මෙම උත්තරීතර ධර්මයේ නාමයට කැළැල්ලක් ඇති නොවන පරිදිය යැයිද අප සංගමය අවධාරණයෙන් පෙන්වා දෙයි.

එමෙන්ම IS සංවිධානය පිළිබඳ මත ප්‍රකාශ කිරීමෙන් හා කටකථා පැතිරවීමෙන් වැළකී සිටිය යුතුය යැයිද ශ්‍රී ලාංකික මුස්ලිම් ජනයාගෙන් අප සංගමය උදක් ඉල්ලා සිටියි.

'Oldest' Koran fragments found in Birmingham University

What may be the world's oldest fragments of the Koran have been found by the University of Birmingham.

Radiocarbon dating found the manuscript to be at least 1,370 years old, making it among the earliest in existence.

The pages of the Muslim holy text had remained unrecognised in the university library for almost a century.

The British Library's expert on such manuscripts, Dr Muhammad Isa Waley, said this "exciting discovery" would make Muslims "rejoice".

The manuscript had been kept with a collection of other Middle Eastern books and documents, without being identified as one of the oldest fragments of the Koran in the world.

Oldest texts

When a PhD researcher, Alba Fedeli, looked more closely at these pages it was decided to carry out a radiocarbon dating test and the results were "startling".

The university's director of special collections, Susan Worrall, said researchers had not expected "in our wildest dreams" that it would be so old.

"Finding out we had one of the oldest fragments of the Koran in the whole world has been fantastically exciting."

The tests, carried out by the Oxford University Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit, showed that the fragments, written on sheep or goat skin, were among the very oldest surviving texts of the Koran.

These tests provide a range of dates, showing that, with a probability of more than 95%, the parchment was from between 568 and 645.

"They could well take us back to within a few years of the actual founding of Islam," said David Thomas, the university's professor of Christianity and Islam.

"According to Muslim tradition, the Prophet Muhammad received the revelations that form the Koran, the scripture of Islam, between the years 610 and 632, the year of his death."

Prof Thomas says the dating of the Birmingham folios would mean it was quite possible that the person who had written them would have been alive at the time of the Prophet Muhammad.

"The person who actually wrote it could well have known the Prophet Muhammad. He would have seen him probably, he would maybe have heard him preach. He may have known him personally - and that really is quite a thought to conjure with," he says.

First-hand witness

Prof Thomas says that some of the passages of the Koran were written down on parchment, stone, palm leaves and the shoulder blades of camels - and a final version, collected in book form, was completed in about 650.

He says that "the parts of the Koran that are written on this parchment can, with a degree of confidence, be dated to less than two decades after Muhammad's death".

"These portions must have been in a form that is very close to the form of the Koran read today, supporting the view that the text has undergone little or no alteration and that it can be dated to a point very close to the time it was believed to be revealed."

The manuscript, written in "Hijazi script", an early form of written Arabic, becomes one of the oldest known fragments of the Koran.

Because radiocarbon dating creates a range of possible ages, there is a handful of other manuscripts in public and private collections which overlap. So this makes it impossible to say that any is definitively the oldest.

But the latest possible date of the Birmingham discovery - 645 - would put it among the very oldest.

'Precious survivor'

Dr Waley, curator for such manuscripts at the British Library, said "these two folios, in a beautiful and surprisingly legible Hijazi hand, almost certainly date from the time of the first three caliphs".

The first three caliphs were leaders in the Muslim community between about 632 and 656.

Dr Waley says that under the third caliph, Uthman ibn Affan, copies of the "definitive edition" were distributed.

"The Muslim community was not wealthy enough to stockpile animal skins for decades, and to produce a complete Mushaf, or copy, of the Holy Koran required a great many of them."

Dr Waley suggests that the manuscript found by Birmingham is a "precious survivor" of a copy from that era or could be even earlier.

"In any case, this - along with the sheer beauty of the content and the surprisingly clear Hijazi script - is news to rejoice Muslim hearts."

The manuscript is part of the Mingana Collection of more than 3,000 Middle Eastern documents gathered in the 1920s by Alphonse Mingana, a Chaldean priest born near Mosul in modern-day Iraq.

He was sponsored to take collecting trips to the Middle East by Edward Cadbury, who was part of the chocolate-making dynasty.

The local Muslim community has already expressed its delight at the discovery in their city and the university says the manuscript will be put on public display.

"When I saw these pages I was very moved. There were tears of joy and emotion in my eyes. And I'm sure people from all over the UK will come to Birmingham to have a glimpse of these pages," said Muhammad Afzal, chairman of Birmingham Central Mosque.

The university says the Koran fragments will go on display in the Barber Institute in Birmingham in October.

Prof Thomas says it will show people in Birmingham that they have a "treasure that is second to none".

රේඩියෝ කාබන් විකිරණ යොදා ගනිමින් කළ කාලය නිර්නනය කිරීමේ පරික්ෂාවකට පසු මෙම කුරාන ලේඛනය වසර එක්දහස් තුන්සිය හැත්තෑවකට වඩා පැරණි බව සොයා ගෙන තිබේ.

බර්මින්හැම් විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ පුස්තකාලය තුළ පැරණි ලේඛන අතර මෙම ශූද්ධ වූ කුරානය සියවසකටත් වැඩි කාලයක් සැඟව ගොස් තිබිණ.

එතරම් කාලයකට පසු එම ලේඛනය සොයා ගැනීමට හැකි වීම ඉතා විශ්මිත අත්දැකීමක් වන අතර මෙම පුවත ලොව පුරා ඉස්ලාම් ලබ්ධිකයින් සතුටට පත් කරනු ඇති බවයි බ්‍රිතාන්‍ය පුස්තකාල ලේඛන පිලිබඳ විශේෂඥයෙකු වන මහාචාර්ය මුහම්මද් ඉසා වේලි පවසන්නේ.

පුස්තකාලයේ මැද පෙරදිග අනෙකුත් පැරණි ලේඛන අතර තිබී සොයා ගැනුණු මෙම කුරානයේ පිටපත දැනට වාර්තා වී ඇති පැරණි කුරාන පිටපත් වලින් පැරණිම පිටපත ලෙස සැලකිය හැකි බවයි වාර්තා වෙන්නේ.

එංගලන්තයේ ඔක්ස්ෆර්ඩ් විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ රේඩියෝ කාබන් විකිරණ අංශයෙන් සිදු කරනු ලැබූ පරීක්ෂණ වලින් හෙළි වී තිබෙන්නේ ලේඛනයේ පිටු බැටළුවන් හෝ එළුවන්ගේ සම යොදා ගෙන නිමවා තිබෙන බවයි.

මෙම ලේඛනය දැනට ආරක්ෂිතව පවතින පැරණිම කුරාන් පිටපත් වලින් එකක් බව සනාථ වී තිබේ.

සිදු කරනු ලැබූ රේඩියෝ කාබන් විකිරණ පරීක්ෂණ වලින් ලේඛනයේ කාලය නිර්ණය කිරීමට 95% ක් සාර්ථක ප්‍රතිඵල ලබා ගැනීමට හැකි වූ බව පවසන ඔක්ස්ෆර්ඩ් විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ විශේෂඥයන් කණ්ඩායම පවසන්නේ ක්‍රි.ව 568 ත් ක්‍රි.ව 645 ත් අතර මෙය ලියැවී ඇති බවයි.

ඉස්ලාම් ප්‍රවාදයන්ට අනුව මොහොමඩ් නබිනායක තුමා විසින් හෙළිදරව් කරන ලද ඉස්ලාම් ආගමික ධර්ම ග්‍රන්ථය ඔහුගේ මරණය සිදුවූ ක්‍රි.ව 610 ත් ක්‍රි.ව 632 ත් අතර කාලය තුල ලියවී තිබෙන බවටයි විශ්වාස කෙරෙන්නේ.

බර්මින්හැම් විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ මහාචාර්ය මුහම්මද් ඉසා වේලි පවසන්නේ ඉස්ලාම් ප්‍රවාදය සහ මෙම ලේඛනය කෙතරම් පැරණිද යන්න සසඳන විට මෙම කුරාන පිටපත ලියන ලද පුද්ගලයා මොහොමඩ් නබිනායක තුමා ජීවත්ව සිටි කාලයේ ඔහු දේශනා කළ ධර්මයේ අභාෂය ලබමින් මෙය ලේඛන ගත කළ බව විශ්වාස කළ හැකි බවයි.

නව ඉරාකයේ මොසුල් ප්‍රදේශයේ උපත ලද බවට විශ්වාස කෙරෙන ඇල්ෆෝන්ස් මින්ගානා නම් පුජකවරයා විසින් 1920 දී සොයා ගනු ලැබූ වසර 3000කට වඩා පැරණි මැද පෙරදිග ලේඛන එකතුවක් බර්මින්හැම් විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ මින්ගානා එකතුව නමින් නම් කර ගබඩා කර තිබූ අතර මෙම පැරණිම කුරාන පිටපත ඉන් එක් ලේඛනයකි.

ලෝකයේ පැරණිම චොක්ලට් නිෂ්පාදනයේ කොටස්කරුවෙකු වූ එඩ්වඩ් කැඩ්බරි විසින් සැපයූ මුල්‍ය ප්‍රතිපාදන සහ දෙනු ලැබූ උපදෙස් පරිදි මැදපෙරදිග සංචාරයන්ට එක්වූ ඇල්ෆෝන්ස් මින්ගානා නම් පුජකවරයා විසින් මැදපෙරදිග ඉතිරිව තිබූ පැරණිම ලේඛන එකතු කළ බවයි පැවසෙන්නේ.

President maithripala Sirisenaඑළැඹෙන මහ මැතිවරණයේදී මැදහත් පිළිවෙතක් අනුගමනය කිරීමට තමා තීරණය කර ඇති බව ජනාධිපති මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කර සිටී. මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා සමග තමාට කිසිදු ගනුදෙනුවක් නොමැති බවත් ජනවාරි 08 දින තමා තුළ මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා කෙරෙහි තිබූ විරෝධය තවමත් එසේම පවතින බවත් අද (14) දින ජනාධිපති ‍ලේකම් කාර්යාලයේදී විශේෂ ප්‍රකාශයක් කරමින් ජනාධිපති මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය. ජනවාරි 08 දින ලැබූ ජනවරම හා ඒ හරහා ආරම්භ කළ වැඩපිළිවෙළ ඉදිරියට ගෙන යා හැකි බහුතර පිරිසක් එළැඹෙන මැතිවරණයෙන් පාර්ලිමේන්තුවට පත්වනු ඇතැයි තමා බලා‍පොරොත්තු වන බවද ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.
පසුගිය ජනවාරි 08 දින පරාජයට පත්වූ මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා ඉදිරියටත් පරාජයට පත් වන බවත් ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.
මැතිවරණයේදී එක්සත් ජනතා නිදහස් සන්ධානය ජයග්‍රහණය කළද අගමැති ධුරය දීම සඳහා ඔහුට වඩා සුදුසු ‍‍‍ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨයින් ඕනෑ තරම් ශ්‍රී ලංකා නිදහස් පක්ෂයේ සිටින බවත් මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන ජනාධිපතිවරයා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.
මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතාට නාමයෝජනා දීමට තමා කිසිදු ලෙසකින් එකඟ නොවූ බවත් ඊට අවස්ථාව දුන්නේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා නිදහස් පක්ෂය දෙකඩ වීම වැළැක්වීම සඳහා වන බවත් මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා මෙහිදී ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.ශ්‍රී ලංකා නිදහස් පක්ෂ සභාපති පදවිය භාර ගැනීමට ගත් තීරණය වැරදි බවට ඇතැමුන් චෝදනා කළද එය නිවැරදි තීරණයක් බවත් එසේ නොවී මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා සභාපති වූයේ නම් සුළුතර රජයේ දින සියයේ වැඩසටහනට පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේ සහය නොලැබෙනු ඇති බවත් එමගින් මහජනතාවට යහපතක් නොවනු ඇති බවත් ජනාධිපතිවරයා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.
මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතාට එක්සත් ජනතා නිදහස් සන්ධානයේ නාමයෝජනා නොලැබුණි නම් වෙනත් පක්ෂයකින් ඔහු ඡන්දය ඉල්ලනු ඇති බවත් අගමැතිවරයාට එරෙහිව විශ්වාසභංගයක් ගෙනැවිත් සන්ධානයේ ජාතික ලැයිස්තුවෙන් මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා පාර්ලිමේන්තුවට ගෙන ඒමේ උත්සාහයක් පැවැති බවත් ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී හෙළිදරව් කළේය.
මහ මැතිවරණය සාධාරණව හා නිදහස්ව හා ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී ලෙස ක්‍රියාත්මක කරලීමට අවශ්‍ය සෑම පියවරක්ම ගන්නා බවත් ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී ප්‍රකාශ කළේය. පසුගිය කාලයේ තමන්ට පාවා දෙන්නා, ද්‍රෝහියා ලෙස ඇතැම් මාධ්‍යද ඇතුළු විවිධ කොටස් බරපතළ ලෙස චෝදනා කළ බවත් තමා මේ රට තුළ ඇති කළ නිදහස් හා ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී වාතාවරණය ඒ තුළින්ම පැහැදිලි වන බවත් ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.
තමා දී ඇති එම නිදහස වල්බූරු නිදහසක් ලෙස භාවිතා නොකරන ලෙසද ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී ඉල්ලා සිටියේය. ශ්‍රී ලංකා මහබැංකුවේ බැඳුම්කර ප්‍රශ්නය මතු වූ අවස්ථාවේ මහ බැංකු අධිපතිට ඉල්ලා අස්වන ලෙස දන්වන්න යැයි තම අගමැති රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතාගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටි බවද ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී සඳහන් කළේය.
මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතාට නාම යෝජනා දීම මෙන්ම අගමැති අපේක්ෂකත්වය දීමද තමා තරයේ ප්‍රතික්‍ෂේප කළ බවත් ඔහුට නාම යෝජනා දීම හරහා එක්සත් ජනතා නිදහස් සන්ධානය පරාජයට පත්වන බව තමා පැහැදිලිව ප්‍රකාශ කර සිටි බවත් ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී පැවැසීය.
මෙහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් දැක්වූ ජනාධිපති මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා මෙසේද පැවැසීය.
“ශ්‍රී ලංකා නිදහස් පක්ෂයේ සභාපතිකම භාර ගැනීම පිළිබඳත්, මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා හමුවීම පිළිබඳත් ඔහුට නාම යෝජනා ලැබිම පිළිබඳත් මට චෝදනා එල්ල වෙනවා. ශ්‍රී ලංකා නිදහස් පක්ෂයේ සභාපතිකම මා භාර නොගත්තා නම්, පාර්ලමේන්තුවේ මන්ත්‍රීවරු 47ක් පමණක් සිටින අගමැතිවරයාට දින සියයේ වැඩපිළිවෙළ ඉදිරියට ගෙනා යාමට බැරිවනවා. 19 වැනි ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝධනයද සම්මත කර ගැනීමට බැරිවනවා.
එසේම අයවැය යෝජනා සම්මත කර ගැනීමටද නොහැකිවනවා. එසේ වූවා නම් ජනතාවට පහුගිය දින 100 තුළ දුන් සහන ලබාදීමට නොහැකි වෙනවා.
මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා සමග සාකච්ඡා කළ සෑම අවස්ථාවකදීම මම ඔහුට නාමයෝජනා දීම හෝ අපේක්ෂකත්වය දීම තරයේ ප්‍රතික්‍ෂේප කළා. එහිදී  මම මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ  මහතාට මෙන්ම, ඔහුට සහය දුන්, නිදහස් සන්ධානයේ, නායකයින්ට මා ප්‍රකාශ කර සිටියේ ජනවාරි 08 ලැබූ ජයග්‍රහණය ආපසු හැරවීමට නොහැකි බවයි
මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතාට නාමයෝජනා දුන් විට දෙමළ මුස්ලිම් ඡන්ද ලැබෙන්නේ නැති බවත් මම ප්‍රකාශ කළා. එසේම ජාත්‍යන්තර ප්‍රජාව තුළ පවතින දූෂණ විරෝධී රැල්ල අපගේ රටට සහන නොදීමට පියවර ගනීවි. එසේම දූෂණය පිටු දකින, බලය අයුතු ලෙස භාවිත නොකරන, යහපාලනයක් රට තුළ ගෙනයාමට ඔබ සුදුස්සකු නොවන බවත් මා එහිදි මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතාට ප්‍රකාශ කළා.
එසේම ඔබගේ පාලන කාලය තුළ පවුල්වාදය, දූෂණය, වංචාව, ව්‍යාප්ත වී තිබූ නිසා මෙරට තරුණ ප්‍රජාවගේ ජන්දයද ඔබ ආවෝත් අපට නොලැබෙන බව මම මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතාට ප්‍රකාශ කළා.
කෙසේ වෙතත් 19 වැනි ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝධනය සම්මත කර ගැනීමේදී, ඉන් අනතුරුව 20 වැනි සංශෝධනයද වහා ඉදිරිපත් කරන බව නිදහස් සන්ධානයට අප ‍පොරොන්දු වුණා. 19 ඉවර වෙලා මම බලා සිටියා 20 ගේනකම්.
එහෙත් 19 ය හදපු අයගේ අතින් 20 හැලුනා. එසේම තොරතුරු දැනගැනීමේ අයිතිය පිළිබඳ  පනතද ගෙන ආවේ නෑ. විගණන පනත ගෙනාවෙත් නෑ. ඒවා ඉතා වැදගත් පනත්.
පක්ෂයේ අපේක්ෂකයින් තේරීමේ ක්‍රියාවලිය දවසේ එම පක්ෂයේ අභ්‍යන්තරය මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතාට නාම යෝජනා දී ඔහුට අගමැති අපේක්ෂකත්වය දෙන ලෙස සන්ධානයේ නායකයන් මට කිව්වා. මම එය ප්‍රතික්‍ෂේප කළා. ඔවුන් මට බැණ බැණ යන්න ගියා. ශ්‍රී ලංක නිදහස් පක්ෂයේ බහුතරයක් මෙන්ම එම පක්ෂයද ඇතුළු සන්ධානයේ නායකයන් මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතාට නාමයෝජනා දෙන ලෙස මට බල කළා.
එහිදී මට කළ හැකි කරුණූ 2ක් තිබුණා. පක්ෂයේ සභාපතිකම අත්හැර, අයින් වෙන්නට මට තිබුණා. ඒත් එසේ කළා නම්, මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ  මහතා සන්ධානයේ මෙන්ම  ශ්‍රී ලංකා නිදහස් පක්ෂයේද සභාපතිවරයා වනවා. එහෙනම් ඔහු ඔහුට අවශ්‍ය අයට පමණක් පක්ෂයේ නාම යෝජනා දේවි. මගේ කට්ටිය සියලු දෙනාම කපා දමාවි.
සන්ධානය තුළ නාමයෝජනා නොලැබුණානම් මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා වෙනම පක්ෂයකින් ඡන්දයට ඒමට ඉඩ තිබුණා. ඒ ආකාරයෙන් ඔවුන් පාර්ලිමේන්තුවටත් ඒමට ඉඩ තිබුණා.
ශ්‍රී ලංකා නිදහස් පක්ෂයෙන් කෑල්ලක් කඩාගෙන රට වටේ යන්න මම කැමති නෑ. එය ජනපතිවරයෙකුට ඔබින්නේ නෑ.
රටේ තිබෙන්නේ ද්විපක්ෂ ක්‍රමයක්. ශ්‍රී ලංකා නිදහස් පක්ෂය හා එක්සත් ජාතික පක්ෂයයි. ඉන් එක් පක්ෂයක් බරපතල ලෙස දුර්වල වූ විට රටේ ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදය කඩා වැටෙනවා. එය ඉතිහාසයෙන් ඔප්පු කර පෙන්විය හැකියි. එසේ රටේ ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදය බිඳ වැටෙනු දැකීමට මා කැමති නෑ. ශ්‍රී ලංකා නිදහස් පක්ෂය දෙකට කඩන්න මට අවශ්‍ය නෑ. එම නිසා සන්ධානයේ හා ශ්‍රී ලංකා නිදහස් පක්ෂයේ බහුතර  මතයට මම ඉඩ දුන්නා. පක්ෂයේ බහුතරය මේ පිළිබඳ තීරණයක් ගන්නා ලෙස මා ප්‍රකාශ කළා. ඒත් මම ඔය අය සමග නැති බව මම පැහැදිලිවම කිව්වා.
ජනවාරි 08 ලැබූ ජයග්‍රහණය ඉදිරියට ගෙන යා හැකි බහුතරයක් කුමන පක්ෂයකින් හෝ පාර්ලිමේන්තුවට තේරී පත්වනු ඇතැයි මා බලා‍පොරොත්තු වනවා.

President Maithripala Sirisena said he would remain neutral at the general election and won’t back former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. He said that he is against Mr. Rajapaksa and that there are many seniors he could appoint as Prime Minister in the event the SLFP wins at the general elections. He said that irrespective of the party that comes to power, he wants those who could carry his pledges forward to be elected. President  Sirisena said that he was totally against the granting of nominations to Mahinda Rajapaksa, and said that Mr. Rajapaksa would lose the upcoming general elections similar to his loss on January 8. He said that this is not the fault of Mahinda Rajapaksa but due to the system introduced by J.R. Jayawardena. Following a long and stony silence, President Sirisena finally addressed the nation and said that he is aware of the ‘insults’ hurled at him during the past two weeks. “There has not been a President who has been insulted like I have been” he said addressing the media. He said that this was the vibrancy of the freedom enjoyed by Sri Lankans post January 8 and said that he is aware of what would have befallen those who had made such insults prior to the Presidential election. He further defended his decision to take over the leadership of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) saying that the decision paved the way for constitutional reform which would not have been possible. “If Mahinda Rajapaksa was the leader, these reforms would not have been possible” he said.
